Indication:
- The preparation is an antiseptic for use on skin and wounds.
- It is used for antiseptic wound treatment of damaged skin (e.g. pressure ulcers, leg ulcers), superficial wounds, burns, infected and superinfected skin diseases.
Dosage:
- Use the medicine as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist.
- Apply the ointment evenly to the damaged area once or several times a day.
- If necessary, a bandage can be applied.
- If the ointment turns brown, it is effective. If it loses its color, reapply the ointment.
Duration of application:
- Use should be continued as long as signs of inflammation persist.
- If symptoms persist or recur after 2-5 days of treatment, consult a doctor.
Overdose:
- If ingested accidentally or in large quantities, seek medical attention immediately.
- Symptoms of acute iodine poisoning may occur.
How to use:
- The ointment is intended for external use only.
- It is grease-free and washable.
- For stubborn stains on textiles, ammonia or fixing salt can help.
Side effects:
- Severe allergic reactions may occur.
- Hypersensitivity reactions and skin inflammations may rarely occur.
- Very rarely, allergic reactions, hyperthyroidism and swelling may occur.
- Other possible side effects include hypothyroidism, electrolyte imbalance, kidney dysfunction, and others.
Interactions:
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other medicines you take.
- The effectiveness may be impaired when used simultaneously with certain wound treatment agents, hydrogen peroxide, taurolidine and silver-containing disinfectants.
- Avoid use with preparations containing mercury and octenidine disinfectants.
- When using lithium preparations, long-term and large-area use should be avoided.
Contraindications:
- The medicine must not be used in case of allergy to povidone-iodine or other ingredients, hyperthyroidism, dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring, before/after radioiodine application or preparations containing mercury, as well as in newborns, infants and small children under one year of age.
Pregnancy and breast feeding period:
- Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before use during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
- Monitoring of thyroid function in the child is necessary.

- Before using the ointment you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.
- In case of thyroid diseases or goiter, you should only use the preparation for a long time and on a large area (e.g. over 10% of the body surface and for longer than 14 days) if expressly instructed by your doctor.
- Even after treatment has ended (up to 3 months), you should be alert to early symptoms of possible hyperthyroidism. Your doctor may monitor thyroid function.
Older people:
- Since older people are more likely to suffer from thyroid dysfunction, this preparation should only be used on a large scale and over a long period of time in older people (aged 65 and over) on the express instructions of a doctor. Thyroid function will be monitored if necessary.
Patients with impaired renal function:
- Prolonged use in patients with impaired renal function should be avoided. Monitoring of thyroid function may be considered.
Children:
- After using this ointment, the doctor will check your thyroid function.
Ability to drive and use machines:
- This medicine has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
