HYDROCORTISON cream is a proven remedy for the treatment of insect bites, allergic skin diseases and other skin inflammations. The substance it contains, which is related to cortisone, is a natural hormone that is produced by the body itself. The cream has an anti-inflammatory effect, eliminates itching and reduces redness, swelling and pustules.

  • Follow the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist when using the cream. Any uncertainties regarding the active ingredients should be clarified.
  • In the case of insect bites and allergic skin diseases, the cream should be applied thinly to the affected areas 2-3 times a day and gently rubbed in, unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor. Once the symptoms have improved, once a day or every 2-3 days is often sufficient. Even after the symptoms have subsided, the cream should be applied for a few more days to prevent them from recurring.
  • The cream can be used for a maximum of 2 weeks and is suitable for adults and children aged 6 and over.
  • The treatment time depends on the individual and the result of the therapy. If the treatment lasts longer than 2 weeks, it must be monitored by a doctor.
  • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.
  • If you have used more than you should
      • There are currently no known symptoms of poisoning. In the event of an overdose, side effects may become more pronounced. If you notice any restrictions due to side effects, please contact your doctor so that he or she can take the necessary measures.

    • If you forget to use it:
      • If the dosage of the cream is insufficient or an application process is forgotten, you should continue the treatment as usual the next time, without applying the cream more frequently or more thickly.

    • Effects if treatment is stopped

To achieve optimal treatment results, we advise you to continue using the product for a long time. However, if you want to stop treatment early, please speak to your doctor.

Side effects :

  • Very rare (less than 1 in 10,000 patients):

    • Burning, itching and a feeling of tension may occur if you are hypersensitive to hydrocortisone or any of the other ingredients.
    • In case of prolonged use (more than 2 weeks), pay attention to possible skin atrophy, telangiectasia, striae or steroid acne and inform the doctor.
    • Blurred vision.
    • If side effects occur, even if not listed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Interactions :

  • Use with other medicines:
    • Tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other medicines you have used, recently used or intended to use, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
    • No interactions are known so far.

Contraindications :

  • The cream must not be used in case of:
    • Allergy to hydrocortisone or any of the other ingredients.
    • Chickenpox and vaccination reactions.
    • Syphilitic or tuberculous skin diseases.
    • Simultaneous skin infection caused by bacteria or fungi (treat separately).
    • Redness and/or nodules in the area of ​​the mouth (perioral dermatitis) or face (rosacea).
    • In the first trimester of pregnancy.
    • Use on or in the eyes is prohibited.

Pregnancy and breast feeding period:

  • Pregnancy:

    • The cream must not be used during the first trimester of pregnancy.
    • Use in later stages of pregnancy only after careful benefit-risk assessment by the doctor.
    • Avoid large-area or long-term use and occlusive dressings during pregnancy.
  • Breastfeeding :

    • The active ingredient passes into breast milk.
    • Discontinue use if used on large areas or for long periods of time.
    • Avoid contact of the infant with the treated skin areas.
