Loperamide acute 2mg hard capsules - for acute diarrhoea

The dosage recommendations are as follows:

Young people aged 12 and over:

• Initial dose: 1 hard capsule (= 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride)
• Repeat dose: 1 hard capsule (= 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride)
• Maximum daily dose: 4 hard capsules (= 8 mg loperamide hydrochloride)

Adult:

• Initial dose: 2 hard capsules (= 4 mg loperamide hydrochloride)
• Repeat dose: 1 hard capsule (= 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride)
• Maximum daily dose: 6 hard capsules (= 12 mg loperamide hydrochloride)

The initial dose is taken at the beginning of treatment and then the repeat dose should be taken after each loose stool. It is important not to exceed the maximum recommended daily dose.

Due to the high active ingredient content, the medicine is not suitable for children under 12 years of age and other dosage forms are available that can be prescribed by the doctor.

It is important not to take the medicine for more than 2 days without medical advice. If diarrhea persists after 2 days of treatment, the medicine should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted.

If an overdose occurs, you should seek medical attention immediately, especially if symptoms such as muscle stiffness, weak breathing, constipation, intestinal obstruction, heart problems, or problems urinating occur.

The hard capsules should be taken whole with sufficient liquid.
